For the third year in a row, we landed in Berlin to celebrate the Stylight Awards and with hundreds of tweets, hashtags and Instagram mentions including attendance from top German and international press on the night and fabulous attendees, it was certainly not one to forget! Missed all of the action? Fear not! Here is our round-up of the not-to-miss moments.
Joining us were a unique selection of international bloggers, street style stars, influencers and celebrities to help us celebrate our nominees in the various categories including Fashion (Sponsored by OnePiece), Beauty (Sponsored by Mary Kay), Lifestyle (Sponsored by Lillet) and Vision as well as the National Style Icon of the Year (Sponsored by Barbie).
Taking place at the grand theatre Admiralspalast in Berlin during Berlin Fashion Week, the courtyard was transformed into a sophisticated stage for style complete with a flower wall, a black carpet and soft pink lighting.
The evening began with our presenter, Hadnet Tesfai delivering her welcome and setting the bar high for what we were to expect; an entire night dedicated to celebrating the extraordinary talent the digital fashion, beauty and lifestyle industries have to offer.
We then met our jury for the evening which included A-List actress and style icon Mischa Barton, top model and TV presenter Lena Gercke, celebrity hair stylist Wendy Iles, founder of You&Idol Julian Jansen and Managing Director of Stylight Max Müller.
It was then time to hand out the first award of the night and you could feel the anticipation and tension in the room! We started by celebrating the Vision Award and presenting was Julian Jansen, founder of You&Idol who celebrated the extraordinary talent of visionaries in the industry today and what it takes to have ideas that are set apart from the rest. Taking the award home was Yvan Rodic for A Little Nation whose innovative and visionary ideas have paved the way for the digital communication industry and has recently up the world’s first-ever Snapchat agency ‘A Little Nation’.
The Beauty Award (Sponsored by Mary Kay) celebrated the top digital beauty innovators and influencers around the world and presenting the award was celebrity hair stylist Wendy Iles.
The winner of the award, as selected by our jury was Nova Lana Love for her contributions to beauty and, having worked with the likes of L’Oreal, MAC and Remington and with a loyal following on her much-loved social media channels, she was the ideal winner for this award.
Halfway through the evening, we were then treated to a live act from up-and-coming musical duo Jonah who played a selection of songs from their new album turning the show into a relaxing live gig.
The Lifestyle Award (Sponsored by Lillet) which was presented by top model and TV presenter Lena Gercke celebrated the top lifestyle influencers today who teach us the importance of a balanced lifestyle through food, interiors, travel and fitness also. The winner of the award was Madeleine Shaw – a professionally trained yoga instructor, chef and nutritional coach who approaches healthy living with a ‘anyone can do it’ attitude making her the ideal nominee for taking this award home.
We were then treated to an exciting surprise, a Lifetime Achievement Award as presented by David Baum, Editor-in-Chief of GQ Germany and the winners were Dandy Diary to celebrate the 5th birthday of their ground-breaking men’s fashion blog.
The next award was the Fashion Award (Sponsored by OnePiece) and presenting the award was none other than A-List Hollywood actress and style icon Mischa Barton. The winner of the award was Candela whose modelling and journalist career together with her work-life balance of being a mother and fashion ‘It Girl’ is admirable. On receiving this award, Candela said “I am really overwhelmed and so happy to be receiving this award. I want to say a big thank you to Stylight and everyone who follows me.”
Last, but not least the final award for the night, as presented by Managing Director of Stylight, Max Müller was the National Style Icon of the Year Award as sponsored by Barbie and winner was Alexandra Maria Lara who was honoured for her effortless style and fashion and received a specially designed one-of-a-kind Barbie.
The lucky winners and our jury then returned to the stage together and the confetti came down marking the end of a very special show.
Our guest danced the night away at the unforgettable after-show party alongside trendy fashion people and glamorous celebs whilst being treated to some amazing tunes by DJ’s CMA and Dandy Diary. The atmosphere was super cool and it was the definitely hottest after-show party of the year!
